Anmol was born with a hearing disability in Bathinda, Punjab, where access to specialized education and support was limited. His childhood was filled with struggles, as very few people could understand his way of communicating. Except for his parents, interacting with others was a daily challenge. Determined to give him a better future, his parents enrolled him in a school for the deaf, though his schooling began later than most children.
Despite completing his 12th grade, Anmol found it extremely difficult to get a job. Studies show that in India, over 50% of persons with disabilities face employment challenges due to lack of awareness and workplace accessibility. With limited job opportunities and little knowledge about available support systems, Anmol felt uncertain about his future. It was through a WhatsApp group for the hearing impaired that he first learned about Sarthak Educational Trust.
At Sarthak, Anmol gained essential skills that would prepare him for the professional world. Before joining, he had no idea how to apply for jobs or what was expected in an interview. Through the training, he learned structured communication in sign language, built confidence, and developed computer skills. He also received specialized training in the retail sector, equipping him with the knowledge required for customer service roles.
His dedication and newfound skills led him to clear an interview with Vishal Mega Mart, a hiring partner of Sarthak. He secured his first job as a Customer Service Associate, earning an annual salary of 1.2 LPA. For Anmol and his family, this was a moment of immense pride and relief—proof that persistence and the right guidance could change lives.
Today, Anmol is grateful for the support he received and hopes that more people with disabilities can connect with organizations like Sarthak to find guidance and employment opportunities. His journey stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact of the right support at the right time.
